Kintbury

The towpath is moorable as you approach Kintbury, but there are extensive 48-hour moorings above the lock as well as water, refuse disposal and a pump-out. The official moorings are monitored by local volunteers so do not overstay, but the towpath is moorable after the next bridge.

The lock is adjacent to the railway station and the Dundas Arms pub, which has a restaurant and hotel rooms. Further up the hill, there is a small grocery shop and a butchers shop in the centre of the village.

Hungerford

As you approach Hungerford, the towpath is moorable with a gangplank for some distance leading up to bridge 83, where there is a water point and pump-out. The railway station is 100 yards away, and there is a pub and a large Tesco.

The bridge itself is a footbridge and is one of the lowest on the canal. Our chimney cleared the bridge by less than 2 inches, and we had to lower the middle hoop of our pram hood to get under.

Just past Town Bridge (no 84) there are 24-hour moorings without rings, and 48-hour moorings opposite with rings. There are no refuse disposal points in Hungerford, but there are some waste bins near the bridge.

Above Hungerford Lock there are further 48-hour moorings with rings.
